Legal deposit and dissemination of your thesis

Pursuant to the Order of 7 August 2006 on the procedures for submitting, notifying, reproducing, disseminating and conserving theses, Université Paris-Est has opted for the electronic legal deposit of its theses. The aim of this approach is to increase the visibility of the theses defended within UPE; it is based on:

  • the guarantee of a perennial archiving of the thesis
  • the mention of the thesis in the SUDOC catalogue (University Documentation System catalogue)
  • the dissemination of the thesis through dedicated websites.

Steps to follow to enable UPE's documentary services to process your thesis

3 weeks before thesis defence

You must:

  • submit an electronic version of your thesis in pdf format to ADUM
  • complete your wishes concerning the dissemination of your thesis in ADUM
  • transmit the signed authorization to disseminate to the administrative head of your doctoral school

Within 3 months after defending your thesis

You must have submitted the final version of your thesis with any corrections requested by the jury to ADUM.

You will only be able to claim your PhD once these formalities have been completed.

For any question relating to the dissemination of your thesis, please contact:  depot-theses@univ-paris-est.fr

For any administrative question, please contact your doctoral school

Where will your thesis be archived and disseminated?

Irrespective of whether your thesis is disseminated on Internet or not, it benefits from the CINES permanent archiving service (National Computer Centre of Higher Education (Centre Informatique National de l’Enseignement Supérieur)).

If your thesis is not confidential, and:

  • if you have given your authorization for dissemination over Internet, your thesis will be published on the following sites:  TELHAL (and HAL-Ponts), theses.fr and possibly Pastel (if you depend on the l'École des Ponts ParisTech). It will also be mentioned in the SUDOC catalogue (University Documentation System catalogue) and by the European thesis reporting site Dart-Europe (partnership between European higher education establishments),
  • if you have not given your authorization for dissemination over Internet, your thesis will be disseminated on the Intranet networks of UPEC, École des Ponts ParisTech, Université Gustave Eiffel and UPE.

Please note: Theses.fr also mentions theses currently being prepared.

Insofar as theses from Paris-Est are subject to electronic legal deposit, they can be consulted on SUDOCTELHAL and theses.fr.

Theses from the École des Ponts ParisTech can also be consulted directly on the Pastel site (ParisTech theses).

If the jury has decided that your thesis is confidential (which is only related to issues of defence or industrial secrecy), it will not be disseminated on the Intranet or on Internet until the end of the confidentiality period.
